Reiki instruction

Angela has taught USUI Reiki since 1998.  Before moving to Hawai'i, she was a reiki instructor at KeKino School of Massage, Plano, Texas.  She has provided reiki instruction to specialized caregivers in the medical field, seniors, hospice volunteers, parents, teachers, prenatal care, special needs children and cancer survivors throughout these 14 years.  Her introduction began to meet the needs of her young ADHD son who is now a reiki practitioner and 24 years old.  It has been rewarding to witness the integration of reiki into the medical community for reiki is now more recognized in individual care, stress-relief, pain management, & calming according to the needs of individuals on their healing journey through life.

Reiki, (pronounced ray-kee), is often given as a treatment, but may also be sent from a distance.  Very simply, Reiki is a hands on, energy technique that promotes a general sense of calm, relaxation, or well-being.   Reiki has been known to assist in pain management, ease mental duress, promote wellness and instill a sense of profound peace.

I learned reiki in 1996, at the time my 3 yr. hyper-active/ADD/ADHD son was diagnosed and it was too early to begin any type of medication.  I gave reiki to my son and found that the bedtime struggle would transform into a pleasant family evening. Even my ex-husband would request reiki for occasional headaches.  What a delightful & welcome relief this calming technique became in our lives.

A reiki treatment is usually 1 hour, you are fully clothed as your lay/sit with the practitioner while listening to soothing music.  They place their hands lightly on the body or just above it. The benefits of a reiki session are many as they are diverse.  Some of the benefits are described as follows:  promote feelings of calm, relaxation, assist in pain management, ease mental duress, instill a sense of peace, & promote wellness.

In recent years this wonderful modality has become mainstream and reiki services are found at more spas, wellness centers, hospitals, pre-natal classes, & child-development programs.  The American Cancer Society reports that some cancer patients undergoing active treatment have reported an increased sense of well-being, reduced pain and reduced nausea and vomiting after Reiki sessions.

Since 1998, I became a Usui Reiki Master Teacher.  It has been my privilege to have taught reiki to ER nurses, physical therapists, public school teachers, parents, caregivers, massage therapists, hospice workers, hair stylists, gardeners, chefs, and animal rescue volunteers.
